As the year comes to an end, it’s time to reflect on what has been an incredible journey for STEM Club 2025. This year has been full of discovery, learning and inspiration for the pupils involved, and it has been a privilege to be part of such a positive and forward-thinking programme.
STEM Club 2025 at Portobello Primary School has given pupils the chance to explore science, technology, engineering and maths in a fun, practical and engaging way. Through hands-on projects, teamwork and real-world challenges, children have developed new skills and grown in confidence while learning how things work in the world around them.

One of the biggest highlights of STEM Club 2025 has been the introduction of Burt Lee, the robot 🤖.
Burt Lee became a central part of the sessions, helping pupils understand the basics of robotics, coding and problem-solving. By programming movements, testing different ideas and fixing faults, the children learned the importance of persistence and creative thinking.
The end of STEM Club 2025 does not mean things are slowing down. In fact, planning for next year is already in motion, with an exciting start to STEM Club 2026 lined up. Three competitions are scheduled before the middle of February, setting the stage for a fast-paced and energetic start to the new year.
What STEM Club 2025 Has Achieved for Young Learners
Throughout STEM Club 2025, pupils have gained valuable skills that go far beyond the classroom. These include problem-solving, logical thinking, communication, teamwork and resilience. These are foundations not just for future careers in engineering and technology, but for everyday life.
The competitions coming in early 2026 will give pupils the opportunity to put these skills to the test. They will work together to prepare, practise and perform, with Burt Lee the robot once again being put through his paces.

Everyone at SMS Tech would like to send their warmest wishes to the PPS STEM Club of Portobello
Primary School. It has been a pleasure to support such a motivated and talented group of young people, and we are proud to be part of their STEM journey.
As the festive season approaches, we would like to wish all pupils, teachers and families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We hope the holiday period brings rest, joy and time to recharge.
We are already looking forward to returning in 2026 to continue supporting this brilliant programme. With strong foundations built through STEM Club 2025 and exciting competitions ahead, the future looks incredibly bright for these young innovators.
